Arte is showing the last two episodes of the excellent series "Indian Lands" this evening at 8:40 pm. The first is dedicated to the Apache chief Geronimo. He was, along with Cochise and Sitting Bull, one of the last great figures of Indian resistance. The last episode recounts the "incident" of Wounded Knee. In 1890, this village was the scene of a massacre perpetrated by the federal army on the Sioux. In 1973, Wounded Knee was occupied by Indians who demonstrated against their miserable living conditions. Like a bad western, the city is immediately surrounded by 2,000 FBI agents and paramilitaries. The siege and the repression that will follow will kill 65 people. Replay on February 27 at 2:55 PM.
